CN19 - Meet Xian- the Ancient Capital City – 4Days
Context:
Xi’an, the bustling capital of central China’s Shaanxi
Province, stakes its undisputed claim as China’s ancient capital
for its prominent role in the nation’s rich and long-standing
dynastic history. Home to the seat of Chinese emperors for over
1100 years, the city is drenched in culturally and historically
important monuments outlining its rich imperial lineage. As the
eastern starting point of the Silk Road, Xi’an was a vibrant
center of cultural, religious and economic interaction between East
and West. Join us in visiting this epicenter of Chinese history,
tracing the footsteps of legendary Chinese emperors and ancient
marching soldiers. Let us delve into the highlights of Xi’an’s
ancient treasures, its rich traditions of Buddhism and Islam, and
the unique cuisine and lifestyle of northwest China. During Swan
Travel’s program to Xi’an, we see the Terracotta Army
along with other major historical sites of the city, savor the distinctive
cuisine of the city, and still find time to stroll along the Ming
Dynasty city walls and through the century old lanes of the Muslim
quarter.

Comfort Level:
Our generally short, 3-5 day journeys will walk about 4 to 6 hour
each day. Some trips may include day excursions to sights outside
the city. Hiking difficulty will be minimal and won’t require
any technical preparation. Because these trips tour through China's
most developed cities, accommodations will be in full service, westernized
hotels. These trips are great for quick business tours, light vacation,
and families with younger children. |
