CN 18 - Shanghai – At the Crossroads of Cultures – 4 Days
Context:
Paris of the East, Queen of the Orient - the relics of Shanghai's
decadent and infamous past as the center of European imperialism
are fast disappearing as it strives to redeem its position as a
prime economic center of the Far East. While Shanghai's rebirth
into an urban metropolis has brought back its prosperity, the city
has managed to retain part of its old-world charm. Our tour of Shanghai
will recover the memories of its colonial past with visits to old
Chinese apartments and early-twentieth century buildings accompanied
by our guide and local expert who will reveal the stories hidden
behind Shanghai's intriguing facades.

Comfort Level:
Moderate tour
Our generally short, 3-5 day journeys will walk about 4 to 6 hour
each day. Some trips may include day excursions to sights outside
the city. Hiking difficulty will be minimal and won’t require
any technical preparation. Because these trips tour through China's
most developed cities, accommodations will be in full service, westernized
hotels. These trips are great for quick business tours, light vacation,
and families with younger children. |
