CN16 - Feeling The Pulse of The Tibetan Kingdom –Lhasa Only
– 4 Days Context:
Lhasa is a city unlike any others in the world. The old town literally
pulses with the energy of devout pilgrims making their way around
Barkhor Square - the prayer circuit around the spiritual Jokhang
Monastery. Here, Buddhism is not an abstract religious belief, but
a tangible force that can be seen in the weathered faces of the
many believers.
Throughout our journey to the Roof of the World,
we tap into this energy by actively engaging ourselves with local
Tibetans who are keeping their traditions and culture alive. In
addition to visiting sacred sites, we will visit a simple Tibetan
family to understand their day-to-day life, drop by a local NGO
to understand the complexity of Tibetan crafts, speak with a Tibetan
medical expert, dine by a scared lake while mesmerized by its beauty,
and watch a courtyard of monks loudly debate their interpretation
of the Tibetan scripture with one another.

Comfort Level:
Moderate
These longer, 6-10 day journeys will include approximately 6 to
8 hours of walking each day. Moderate trips may include destinations
outside of the most developed cities. When in China¡¦s
second tier cities or rural areas, you will stay at the best available
guesthouse, homestay, or campground. Activities might include 2-3
days of moderate hiking. Those looking to get a glimpse of China
off the beaten tourist track will love these trips. |
