CN15 - Stepping Into the Scroll—the Landscapes of Guangxi –
5 Days Context
Guilin's landscape has inspired poets and artists for centuries—the
sight of limestone karst peaks rising through the mist, and the
sleepy settlements along the Li River have been eulogized in poems
and paintings throughout China's history. In this journey we take
our time to fully appreciate the lush, mesmerizing scenery of Guilin
and it’s nearby neighbor, Yangshuo.
We start our journey with both evening and daytime
explorations of the Li River. Once in laid-back Yangshuo, we venture
outside the town and enter a delightfully enchanting countryside
with terraced rice paddies and traditional farms. We tour the surrounding
farms both on foot and by bicycle, visiting the famous views from
Moon Hill, learning about local crafts, and savoring the relaxed
pace of life. We even have the opportunity to venture underground—where
the scenery continues with caves of crystallized stalactites and
stalagmites. Before heading home, we get an intimate taste of local
life by visiting a small fishing village and dining with a native
family.

Comfort Level
Moderate walking tour
Our generally short, 3-5 day journeys will walk about 4 to 6 hour
each day. Some trips may include day excursions to sights outside
the city. Hiking difficulty will be minimal and won’t require
any technical preparation. Because these trips tour through China's
most developed cities, accommodations will be in full service, westernized
hotels. These trips are great for quick business tours, light vacation,
and families with younger children. |
