Cultural & History Program
CN9 - Embracing Sichuan’s Natural Wonders – 12Days
Context
Nestled against the Tibetan Plateau, Sichuan is known worldwide
for its fragrant and spicy cuisine and as the home of the Giant
Panda. Fewer people are aware of the spectacular natural beauty
of this area and the Tibetan and Qiang cultures still flourishing
in Sichuan’s remote mountains. From sparkling aquamarine lakes
to the soaring snow-capped mountains, from deep bamboo forests and
grazing pandas to rushing waterfalls with a rainbow hanging in the
mist, we will explore some of Sichuan Province’s most beautiful
natural places. And by connecting with Tibetan forest rangers and
Chinese researchers working to preserve the Giant Panda and by sharing
tea and meals with rural villagers, we experience the region’s
striking natural heritage through the eyes of the people who live
there.
